I did the same thing. Also turned the Aero interface off, and turned on the "Windows Classic" interface. Aero was just a bit too "flashy" for my tastes. To see the weather, I use the "1-Click Weather" extension in Firefox. I like Vista's new interface and Gadgets If I wanted the classic views I'd of stayed with XP.
